About The Seminar

ABOUT THE COURSE

The presentation will review selected oral lesions that the general dentist may encounter in private practice. Discussion will also include a review of guidelines to determine when to biopsy suspicious lesions and the related histopatholgy.


ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Dr. Valli Meeks received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and Masters of Science degree in Oral Pathology from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry (UMSOD). She is also a graduate of the Thomas Jefferson University, College of Allied Health Sciences, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene and a Cum Laude graduate of Springfield College, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education.

Dr. Meeks is the Director of the PLUS Program, a dedicated dental facility for patients living with HIV disease at UMSOD and serves as the Principal Investigator for the Ryan White Grants at UMSOD. She received a citation for outstanding service in the delivery of oral health care to people living with HIV disease in Maryland from Senator Barbara Mikulski, U.S. Senator and was selected as the "2010 Faculty of the Year" for the Dental School's Department of Oncology and Diagnostic Sciences, as well as, the recipient of the 2016 University System of Maryland Regents’ Faculty Award for Excellence in Public Service and the UMB President’s Public Servant of the Year Award in 2018. Dr. Meeks is a trainer for the dental component of the MidAtlantic AETC.
